Tasmanian lawn bowls trailblazer Rebecca Van Asch announces retirement from competition

In the end, it will not be the world championships nor Commonwealth Games gold medals that Rebecca Van Asch will look upon most glowingly when reflecting on her 18-year international lawn bowls career.
Rather, it will be the minutiae of her extraordinary tenure that she will hold most dear.
"It's the little things that I feel I've achieved. The impact I hope I've had on my teammates, on my national teammates, on my state teammates, and I hope that's the legacy that lives on," the 34-year-old said at a press conference announcing her retirement from the sport.
